whatever-was-in-my-pantry cookies

These aren’t anything special or cool. It was a Wednesday night and with no school to stress about, I couldn’t very well just sit there could I? I dug into my pantry and found some oatmeal, orange flavored cranberries from Trader’s, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and the usual dough business. Threw them all in a bowl and scooped them into the oven. No one tried these either. I gave the batch to my mom who took them to work.

Over all, they were decent. The recipe I adapted from Kacey’s Kitchen called for rolled oats, but being that I don’t eat oatmeal and was also too much of a FF (Duonger lingo) to go to the store, I used whole grain instant oatmeal. I ate about 5 cookies. Hey, I had to test them out at each stage: just out of the oven, five minutes out of the oven, cooled completely, on a napkin, on my bare hands… you get the point.  Not a bad batch, but after the unnecessary sugar intake, I did manage to haul myself to the gym. Max liked them I think…

Hi There! Thanks so much for checking out my blog and I’m glad you’ve been trying some things I love! There really isn’t much difference between rolled oats and oatmeal. ‘Oatmeal’ just has some of the tough bran removed from it making it a bit softer. I use them interchangeably rather than buying multiples of similar oats. If they came out great the way you made it than obviously you did something right!

Oh, and your little guy is so cute!!!

Thanks for the suggestion Rich. I’ll make your FF cinnabons after I tackle the other treats on my list – oreo’s, ding dongs, pops, tarts… And as for the cookies – I’ll teach you the ways of opening your eyes and mouth to NEW things! What an idea! Thanks for always being the first to taste my baked stuff :)

I didn’t get a chance to try these, but IF I did, I probably would’ve preferred raisins to cranberries. Oatmeal raisin cookies are one of my favorites. Why fix something that isn’t broken, ya know?

And where are my FF cinnamon rolls – Man vs. Food style?! Here’s a recipe to get you started – http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/cinnamon-rolls-recipe/index.html
