Baking is easy… right? You just follow the recipe, throw some flour and eggs into a bowl, pop it in the oven, then voila, Mrs. Fields! Yeeaahhh baby!
Um… yeah. I’m finding out that is so not the case. Cake flour versus all purpose. Tin baking pan or non-stick? Why should I care what the different boiling stages of syrup are? And, what the heck is sabayon sauce?
As you’ve probably gathered, I don’t know how to bake. But I want to. And this is my quest.
I have many loves in my life: my family, friends, sipping cherry coke from a chewy, soft, delicious Redvine, and Maxiepoo, just to name a few. Another love is baking, and with so many things going on in my life, it has always provided a time of relaxation and comfort. Even if it’s resulted in complete disaster.
linda’s love is a journey in baking that also aims to spread this love - or to some (aka my Duonger familia) it’s considered a mild form of torture. As a baking novice, I’m setting out to learn how to bake, and further, to perfect my craft. In order to do that, I am documenting my lessons and am volunteering my close friends and family (to start) as my test subjects – whether they like it or not… Through guerilla bake-fare, I’m trying a new sweet recipe each week and delivering the product to my (un)fortunate subjects, in the hopes for feedback and suggestions for improvement.
I may or may not provide the ingredients list depending on the recipe, and will briefly describe what I did, but I’m not including the step-by-step baking process for a few reasons:
- If I use someone else’s recipe, you can link to their site and find out
- If it’s my own concoction, just email me about it
- This is more of documentation of what I learn along the way, and
- Don’t know if you’d want to replicate my recipes (for now at least)
So keep your eyes peeled and your tummies empty… And maybe a Pepto Bismol by your nightstand… cause you just might come home to a box of love on your doorstep!
